KIIT Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology)
The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), formerly KIIT University, is a private university based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
KIIT Bhubaneswar was founded in 1992 as an Industrial Training Institute with only twelve students and two specialists. This institution was the brainchild of Achyuta Samanta, C R Mishra, PK Mishra who had the vision of a deep learning center in India and therefore strived to lay the foundation for KIIT. In 1997, the School of Technology and the School of Computer Engineering were established. And in 2004 we were awarded the position of the university and renamed KIIT University.
In 2007 KIIT Biotechnology of School, Rural Management of School, School of Medical and Law school of KIIT. And in 2017, the institute was renamed the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, following a request from all institutions considered as universities not to use the “university” in their case. KIIT was finally get recognized as an Institute of Eminence through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2019.
The center has twelve well-organized and clean campuses of 700 acres (2.8 km2) in the temple city of Bhubaneswar.
Internally, KIIT is ranked 291-300 in the QS University Rankings 2019 BRICS University Rankings. In India, it was ranked 42nd among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by 2020, 24 among all universities, and 44th overall. The NIRF also ranked it 32nd in the management list,  32nd in the medical list and 12 in the legal list. Recognized as Institute of Eminence in 2019. KIIT is ranked first in India in the 2020 ARIIA position issued by the MHRD under the category of ‘Private or Funded Universities.’ In the NIRF Rankings announced on June 11, 2020, the rank of KIIT rose to 44 from 50 in the Senior category, while it was ranked 24th in the University ranks. Recently, KIIT won ‘The Awards Asia’ 2020 announced by Times Higher Education (THE).
Scholarship and Admission of Student
Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs is done mainly through the KIITEE (KIIT Entrance Examination). Access to the MTech system is also provided through GATE. Students are admitted to law school by writing all the standard tests called the KLSAT (KIIT Law School Admission Test).
In the recently introduced fashion courses, film studies, journalism, and carpentry accreditation will be conduct on the basis of relevant previous tests and additional experience related to these relevant methods.
The center also provides students with good and needy students every year. Among them, the Pradyumna Bal Memorial Scholarship is awarded to two economically challenged but honorable students, and they are offered completely free education and tuition fee.
Life of Students
KIIT provides campus accommodation for its students, researchers, faculty members and many of its staff. Students stay in hostels throughout their stay at KIIT, regardless of choice. A total of 17 hostels are separate and six are for girls and the rest is for boys.
There are different communities in KIIT to choose from depending on the interests and preferences of the student.
Other major college communities are Qutopia, the Quiz community; Kronicle, Literary Society, Social Responsibility Cell and Korus, Music Society. Kronicle students have never scored for various National and International Level students.
The Commitment Cell aims to instill a sense of social responsibility in the hearts and minds of all students. The Qutopia interrogation community organizes a national questionnaire, in Udghosh every year.
The previous Udghosh program was hosted by Vikram Joshi, winner of the World Quizzing Championship. It also runs the annual Intra-University Quiz competition “Launchpad” as part of the admission process.
Qtopia is well-known at question-and-answer sessions across the country and has produced questions not only by winning provincial and regional questions, but also at the national and international level, including the prestigious Tata Crucible Campus Quiz, hosted by ace questioner Giri Balasubramanium, and other high-level questions such as the Debasish Das Memorial (DDM) IT Quiz, Sweden India Nobel Memorial Quiz, and Mahindra AQ.
The KIIT chapter of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) was established in 2003, promoting traditional Indian music, dance, and culture among the youth and organizing numerous music concerts. Students can join the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS). There are other cultural, literary, and interest communities. Several schools have their communities based on school subjects. The School of Technology, with the Robotic Society, organizes workshops and workshops to expose students to the concept of robots and how they can be built and organized.
